The Music of Shabbos

The Music of Shabbos “Music reaches far, and it reaches deep,” says Yaakov Shwekey — and nowhere does it reach deeper than on Shabbos. In The Music of Shabbos, international singing sensation Yaakov Shwekey joins bestselling author Yisroel Besser to celebrate the sounds and soul of Shabbos. Inspired by the warmth of his parents’ Shabbos table — where Syrian and Vizhnitz melodies mingled and gefilte fish met kibbe — Shwekey shares the heart and heritage that shaped his music and his faith. With his signature storytelling and timeless insight, Yisroel Besser uncovers the meaning and beauty in every zemer (song), weaving words of Torah and inspiration from gedolim (great sages) throughout the generations. Yaakov Shwekey adds his own reflections, memories, and moments — from the early days of learning zemiros at home, to the global stage, to the quietest moments of song with his children around his own Shabbos table. This unique volume coincides with the release of an extraordinary compilation of over 100 zemiros and Shabbos songs, produced by Doni Gross, which captures the full musical journey of Shabbos — from Kabbalas Shabbos to Havdalah — with the energy and authenticity that have made Shwekey beloved across the Jewish world. Now, the voice that has inspired millions joins the pen that has uplifted thousands — in a one-of-a-kind collaboration that celebrates the heartbeat of every Jewish home: the Music of Shabbos.
