Great Jewish Legacies

They came from different countries and different centuries. They belonged to different communities and traditions. Yet they shared one magnificent legacy: lives devoted to Hashem and His Torah. They were visionary leaders, devoted rabbanim, and extraordinary men and women who left an enduring mark on Jewish life. Some were revered Rebbes and illustrious roshei yeshivah. Others were poskim whose rulings shaped Jewish life, or authors whose sefarim continue to be studied today. Some led great communities; others shaped generations of talmidim. They were Sephardic and Ashkenazic, Chassidic and Lithuanian. Some are household names. Others are Torah giants waiting to be discovered. Great Jewish Legacies brings us face to face with hundreds of these remarkable personalities whose lives helped shape the Torah world. Arranged according to their yahrtzeits throughout the Jewish calendar, the book offers a magnificent gallery of portraits — each one accompanied by fascinating information about the person, his or her accomplishments, teachings, and enduring legacy. What united these remarkably diverse personalities? Their yiras Shamayim. Their ahavas Hashem and love of Torah. Their devotion to Klal Yisrael. And their determination to use their unique gifts in the service of their Creator. In his bestselling Great Jewish series, Rabbi Moshe Bamberger, a noted educator, speaker, and author, has created a unique way to encounter the giants of our past through compelling visual storytelling. Once again, rare photographs — many painstakingly restored and colorized — along with historic sefarim, documents, artifacts, and memorable quotations bring these extraordinary personalities and their worlds vividly to life. Open these pages and discover the remarkable men and women whose courage, wisdom, faith, and devotion helped shape our timeless Torah heritage.
