Kol Dodi on Megillas Ruth

Rabbi David Feinstein, Rosh Yeshivah of Mesivtha Tifereth Jerusalem, is renowned as one of the world's leading poskim (authorities in Torah law). Every day, rabbis and laymen present him with complex questions regarding ritual, commerce and health, and accept his decisions when fortunes and even lives hang in the balance. It has been our honor over the years to present another aspect of his genius to the Jewish public. He is an extraordinary commentator on books of the Torah. The Rosh Yeshivah's unique blend of depth of understanding, broad knowledge of the Talmud and Midrash, skill with gematria, command of history, and understanding of human nature combine to present the reader with a fascinating commentary. There is none like it -- as you will surely agree as you read this, his newest original work. Ruth is the epitome of the righteous convert, a paradigm of unselfishness and kindness. She is the Mother of Royalty, the great-grandmother of King David. Her story is part of the eternal Torah and is read on Shavuos. The Rosh Yeshivah's comments and insights shed new light on the Book, its historic significance, and the quiet greatness of Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz. This work is, in the idiom of the Sages, me'at hakamus v'rav ha'eichus, small in quantity but great in quality. To study it is to enrich oneself immensely and to absorb a new dimension of Torah wisdom.
