Krias Shema al Hamittah

Before we close our eyes each night, we whisper the words of Krias Shema al Hamittah, the “bedtime Shema” — words of forgiveness, of faith, of peace. And of course, Krias Shema al Hamittah also serves as our spiritual shield — a source of protection from harm and worry, wrapping us in Hashem’s care even as we sleep. With his trademark warmth and insight, bestselling author Yisroel Besser reveals the beauty and depth of this nightly tefillah, showing how it brings serenity, strength, and closeness to Hashem. Drawing upon classic and contemporary commentaries — and weaving in powerful, relatable stories — Rabbi Besser makes each insight both practical and inspiring. The bedtime Shema, Krias Shema al Hamittah, is an uplifting and comforting guide to ending each day with calm, gratitude, and emunah.
